LONG TERM SPANISH TEACHER
The Mohawk Area School District has an anticipated long term Spanish Teacher position for the 2024-2025 school year. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Spanish Teacher to join our district. As a Spanish Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and educate students in the Spanish language and culture.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides instruction in the content area to students of varying ability and aptitude in compliance with the district curriculum and PDE standards; ensures understanding; assesses knowledge on a regular basis.
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum standards as approved by the district.
Teach Spanish language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing
Introduce students to Spanish culture, traditions, and history
Utilizes learning technology to enhance the instruction and engage students
Provide individualized support and early intervention to meet the special needs of the students.
Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents
Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a productive learning environment
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the overall educational experience
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
Valid PA Teaching Certification in Spanish education
Fluency in Spanish language and strong knowledge of Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation
Experience teaching Spanish at the middle school or high school level is preferred
Previous experience as a substitute teacher preferred
Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) clearly with all stakeholders including the board, administration, parents, and students
Working knowledge of computer programs; including email, Microsoft office, and google suite
Ability to develop and implement curriculum that meets the diverse needs of the students
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of educational systems, educational testing and measurement, and the psychology of learning

Day-to-Day Substitute Teachers
Mohawk Area School District is seeking day to day substitute teachers for the 2023-2024 school year. As a Substitute Teacher, you will play an important role in enhancing the quality of children's educational experience by providing highly skilled, committed, and a caring education to the classroom academically and behaviorally.
Responsibilities
In the absence of the classroom teacher, provide instruction and manage the learning environment
Review and implement regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives

Part Time Police Officer- ACT 120 Certified or Graduate of PA State Police Academy
The Mohawk School Police Department is looking to hire qualified individuals to fill the job vacancy for a part-time School Police Officer position. School officers ensure a safe and secure environment for all Mohawk School District students, staff, and visitors and ensure the school district is prepared to effectively respond to all emergencies that might affect safety or security of students, staff and visitors.
Experience/Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent.
Associate Degree (Preferred.)
Act 120 certified or Graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
Complete NASRO training.
Officer Duties and Responsibilities
Provide law enforcement and police services to the school, school grounds and areas adjacent to the school.
Investigate allegations of criminal incidents per Mohawk Police Department’s policies and procedures.
Enforce state and local laws as well as county ordinances if needed.
Make appropriate referrals to juvenile authorities or other governmental agencies.
Work to prevent juvenile delinquency through close contact and positive relationships with the students. In addition the Mohawk School Police shall develop crime prevention programs and conduct security inspections to deter criminal or delinquent activities.
Establish and maintain a close partnership with school administrators in order to provide for a safe school environment.
Assist school officials with their efforts to enforce Board of Education policies and procedures.
Ensure school administrator safety by being present during school searches, which may involve weapons, controlled dangerous substances or in such cases, that the student’s emotional state may present a risk to the administrator.
Assist school administrators in emergency crisis planning and building security matters. Provide a course of training for school personnel in handling crisis situations, which may arise within the Mohawk School District.

Substitute Custodian
The Mohawk Area School District is seeking an experienced and qualified individual to fill the position of Sub Custodian. The Sub Custodian assists the school administration in providing the staff, teachers and students a safe, secure, clean and healthy environment for them to achieve their goals.
Experience/Qualifications:
A working knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing skills are required.

Substitute Paraprofessional/Personal Care Assistant
Mohawk Area School District is seeking dedicated and compassionate Substitute Paraprofessionals/Personal Care Assistants to join our team. As a Substitute Paraprofessional/Personal Care Assistant, you will play an important role in providing our students with the academic, behavioral, and daily living support they need. Under the supervision of a lead teacher, you will implement directed academic and behavioral plans through individualized attention inside the classroom or in small groups. You will also assist the teacher in a variety of classroom needs, as well as helping students with daily living skills needed for participation in school.
Paraprofessional Duties and Responsibilities
Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials.
Monitor student work and supervise curriculum-based testing.
Review material with students one-on-one or in small groups.
Ensure students follow school and class rules.
Supervise students in class, between classes, and during lunch and recess.
Other duties as assigned by Principal and Coordinator of Special Education.
Paraprofessional Requirements and Qualifications
High school degree or equivalent; degree in education preferred.
2+ years of experience as a paraprofessional, teaching assistant, or similar position.
Experience working with elementary-aged students.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Familiar with Google Suite.

Substitute School Nurse
Mohawk Area School District is seeking experienced and qualified individuals for a position as a Substitute School Nurse. In this position, you will provide primary health and emergency care to students, promote wellness and serve as a resource for health concerns in the school setting. Our ideal candidate has prior experience in pediatric and/or community, a valid RN/LPN and the patience and calm demeanor required when providing medical services to school children.
Substitute School Nurse Duties and Responsibilities
Administers medications and treatments as ordered.
Provides care for student and staff illness and accidents.
Administers care based on individual health care plans and individual emergency care plans.
Serves as liaison between the home and the school regarding student health concerns.
Documents all encounters in the Electronic Health Record.
Follows communicable disease control procedures and informs administration and/or parents regarding school exclusion and readmission.
Substitute School Nurse Requirements and Qualifications
Hold current PA State license as a Registered Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse.
Current certification in CPR.
Excellent communication skills.
Knowledge of current practices for common childhood illnesses and chronic diseases such as asthma management, diabetes, insulin pen and pumps, seizure management.
Ability to perform skilled nursing care such as catheterization, suctioning, gastrostomy tube feedings, insulin administration, insulin pump skills and nebulizer treatments.
Computer skills.
Baccalaureate degree in nursing or related field is a plus.
